One Thousand Hours

Sounds like a lot of time. What could you accomplish in 1000 hours? All sorts of things—working, reading lots of books, watching lots of tv, eating lots of snacks. Or perhaps going to Jazzercise a few times a week over about 8 years! I just reached my 1000th class and began to ask myself how I did it and why. The how? I make Jazzercise a regular part of my week. It is just part of my routine, week in and week out. Rain or shine, hot or cold, I head over to one of the several locations in town and do it! The why? Partly to stay healthy and fit, and partly because of the people. After an hour of class I feel tired, but great, with that “endorphin high”. Now the people part: We have wonderful instructors who make Jazzercise so much fun and so challenging. And I have met so many fellow students who have become friends. So I feel these 1000 Jazzercise hours have been some of the most satisfying hours in my life. I will be starting on the next 1000 hours today!

Chapel Hill has been a lovely introduction to the USA for us. We did not know what to expect as we traveled across the Atlantic lock, stock and barrel. But we settled in nicely and made Chapel Hill our home. For me the cherry on top was discovering Jazzercise! It was love at first jazzercise move. I loved it instantly. The wonderful instructors made it all that much more special. You and your team are really great. Congratulations!

I believe the generosity of interchangeable and limitless classes at the various locations is the key...not to mention all the interesting instructors and personalities. One can see that they are highly motivated and definitely enjoy what they do. I am sure such a high standard will be hard to find anywhere else. We are always made to feel welcome and it is very nice to be able to exchange a few words with fellow Jazzercisers and to catch a glimpse into the otherwise very busy lives that we all lead.

Jazzercise is addictive and I find myself really looking forward to the days when I have set aside time to attend. It has also been very encouraging to see fellow Jazzercisers achieve milestones and to celebrate with each other. Your Jazzercise classes certainly have a community feel to them. I have gotten to know other students, and do appreciate the sense of commitment that each have to Jazzercise. Most of all I can see and feel their enjoyment for the classes and the love for you and your team.

Thank you and your team for making my time here in Chapel Hill so much more meaningful and enjoyable.

My journey to becoming a Jazzercise junky started in the winter of 2001. I was sporting an extra 30 pounds, trying to get my last child out of high school and had a major case of the blahs. Scanning the advocate I saw an ad for Jazzercise . The friendliest class in town it stated....hmmmm. I called my sister and best friend, Jan, and suggested giving this a try. February 2001 we started Jazzercise and have made this an important part of our life. It is a true community of diverse wonderful (and ageless) people. The instructors obviously love their work; the pace is your own, as is your level of group involvement. If you want to start slow and easy or conversely crank it out, this could be for you. If you want to laugh and be social or keep your own counsel and work out quietly, (something I have never learned to do) this could be for you. If you have just THOUGHT about this, take the step. Thankfully I am now 24 pounds lighter, a lot stronger..... and it’s still the friendliest class in town.

From Janice R.

I have been attending Jazzercise classes regularly for about 6 years. It is so much fun that I try to never miss a class. In fact, for many years, I have structured everything else in my life around my Jazzercise classes!

What I like most about it is the constantly changing music and routines. It never gets boring, unlike many aerobics classes which use the same music over and over and rarely change the movements. Jazzercise feels like dancing more than exercise, and yet I get a full body workout as we do weights, floor work and dance routines and always to great music. When I finish a Jazzercise class, I have a lot of energy and am always in a great mood. The teachers are always positive, enthusiastic and energetic and they make sure to show both high and low impact options, so it is suitable for all levels of fitness. Try it—you will LOVE it!
